Barcelona solo exhibition opening <\/h1>\n

Discover the recap of my solo exhibition at Miscelanea gallery in Barcelona in October 2013. <\/h2>\n

As I told you recently, a couple of weeks ago I went to Spain<\/a> where I presented my new solo exhibition<\/a>. For those who don’t remember, the art show called Kirtimukhas is a hindu tribute and a graphic reflexion for my last series of drawings. It is a series of 10 original and new handmade artworks on art paper. <\/p>\n

Barcelona is great <\/h3>\n

I love Barcelona. <\/strong>
\nThe city has a really young and arty vibe, which in no way diminishes the great feeling brought to you by the sunny and warm Spanish weather. You know the deal: awesome Gaudi architecture, great food, young artists from all over Europe and drunk pickpockets from all over the world.
\nSo I spent a week there, and I stayed in a small and nice hotel in Las Ramblas. The place is in the heart of the catalan city. I mention this because the owner was nice enough to invite me to stay there for free. Big up and thank you Solsyk<\/a>.
\nMiscelanea gallery is just at a 10mn walking distance from the hotel. So I headed up there straight after I unpacked my bags. I met Fatima, the owner I talked with through email. Fatima and her staff was really cool and lovely. We talked about how to set up the exhibition around a nice coffee and a yummy Spanish meal. I took the decision to paint a character on one of the gallery’s wall. <\/p>\n

Painting the wall <\/h3>\n

I had to afternoon to paint a wall before the opening of my solo exhibition. <\/strong>
\nThe timeframe was short so I started to work straight away.
\nA couple of Posca in my pocket and a lot of motivation was everything I needed. So what I chose to paint a 4 x 3 meters character to match with the art series. As always, it was fun and I painted as fast as I could. When I paint on walls, I stay as clean as possible. I want my wall paintings to look as clean as my drawings of my illustrations on paper.
\nI am not used to work with a lot of tools. Make the most of what I have allows me to create new artworks in any environment.
\nAfter I finished the character I went out for a couple of beers and some great ham… <\/p>\n

Set up of Kirtimukhas <\/h3>\n

It’s time to install the artworks. <\/strong>
\nAfter I finished my painting, we started to hang the drawings around the room.
\nMiscelanea was professional and helpful. The art gallery printed a series of beautiful postcards to promote the show around Barcelona. They also made a laser-cut vinyl with the name of the exhibition to stick on the front window.
\nI decided to print another laser vinyl with one of my character, to display in front of the entrance door.
\nEventually, we added my earlier series of screen-prints on another wall. The idea was to combine the artworks from my 2011 touring exhibition with my new series.
\nArt lovers from Barcelona would be able to see the continuity in my work. Different techniques, different tools, different drawings but the same vibe. <\/p>\n

Solo exhibition opening <\/h3>\n

Kirtimukhas opened on October 6th. <\/strong>
\nFirst of all, well… I don’t like to take pictures during the opening of my exhibitions. So you will forgive me if I don’t show you many pictures of the opening, as I chose to talk with the attendees instead of taking pics.
\nAnyway, art lovers came and we had a good time. Talks, free booze and sales for a great evening.
\nOne of the good things about Miscelanea is that the art gallery offers a small caf\u00e9 and a nice book shop inside the space. So it’s a good spot to chill and spend time in a friendly and comfortable environment.
\nAfter the opening I went out with some new friends to a private party organized by a beer’s brand for the school of design. Open bar, cool students and great food. A good way to finish the night before I went back to France to visit my family. <\/p>\n
